TVS showcased its 125 CC Radeon commuter motorcycle at the Auto Expo 2012 which has been recently spotted testing on Indian roads. The 2012 TVS Radeon 125 is a feature rich commuter or as they say “Executive Commuter” segment bike which comes with a balance between the power, features and fuel economy. The Radeon seems to have nice quality and aesthetics overall and and is expected to attract buyers who want an elegant yet not too expansive bike with good features and fuel economy.
The Radeon will be powered by a 125 CC air cooled single cylinder petrol engine expected to produce close to 10 BHP of power. Considering the placement of this bike, we expect that it will feature a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. From the spy pictures, it is clear that the Radeon has disk brakes at front and drum at the rear. Some of the visual elements of the Radeon from the spy pictures and pictures from Auto Expo, the Radeon has an all black coated engine, exhaust muffler (silencer), alloy wheels and suspension components to give it a sporty appeal. The bodywork and graphics look good quality and seats look wide and comfortable.
Some of the elements which are clear from the spy pictures include a full chain cover, large and sharp tail lamp design, clear turn indicators, black grab rail, large pillion seat, stylish fuel tank design, box-shaped swing arms, decent profile of front and rear tyres, electric start feature, tubular frame design etc.
All in all, the new 2012 TVS Radeon 125 seems like it is evolved on the popular TVS Victor 110 CC bike which was quite popular about half a decade back. Radeon is TVS’s attempt to reclaim the segment of an executive commuter which is largely ruled by Bajaj Discover and Hero Passion in India. The size of the market in terms of sales volumes is huge and is growing rapidly despite challenging economic scenario in India. In fact hike in petrol and CNG prices and high running cost of cars has converted many potential entry level car buyers into two wheeler buyers who prefer buying a bike for its much better fuel economy compared to any entry level car. We will keep you updates on the developments on the 2012 TVS Radeon 125, so stay tuned for more updates from us.
