Ford has already showcased the production version of the Ford EcoSport compact SUV / Crossover which will be launched in China and Brazil in 2012. The EcoSport India Launch is also due in in early 2013 which was earlier speculated to happen around November 2012 during the Diwali festival season in India. The EcoSport top end Titanium version is spotted with alloy wheels, turn indicators mounted on the outside rear view mirrors, rear fog lamps, underbody cladding as viewed the the bottom of the rear and bumper in silver colour, fog lamps, roof rails, rear spoiler, high mounted stop lamp in rear spoiler, rear washer and wiper, spare (5th) alloy wheel mounted at the rear of the car etc. as some of the features which were easily visible on these spy pictures.

An interesting fact is that the lower end models do cut down on the alloy wheels, under body cladding and many such cosmetic features, but Ford has tried its best to keep the sporty appeal alive with intelligent use of pressed steel wheels with web-structure which looks like alloy wheels from a distance, something like we see in Chevrolet Beat small car in India with steel wheels which are made to look much better (very much like alloys).

Also on the lower end variants of the EcoSport compact SUV / crossover will also miss out on features like outside rear view mirrors with turn indicators etc. We expect to see some more differences on the interiors and the features list as well. The Indian lineup of the EcoSport will be customized to Indian needs and will probably have up to 5 variants which will include one low cost entry level variant to attract price conscious buyers and many other loaded variants for the feature conscious buyers.

Ford India will use 1.0 Litre Ford EcoBoost Engine for the petrol variants and a 1.5 Litre Diesel from Fiesta lineup for the diesel variant. There is an automatic transmission variant also expected with a 6 speed dual clutch PowerShift transmission found on the Ford Fiesta Automatic in India. It will be exciting to see how things shape for the production version of the Ford EcoSport. We will keep an eye on the same and will keep you updates, so stay tuned for more updates.
