Mahindra and Mahindra has officially confirmed that it is evaluating the correct time to launch the popular SUV Mahindra XUV500 in three International markets viz. Italy, Australia and Chile. The launch of XUV500 in these countries is on M&M Priority. The required adaptations and modifications like emission norms, conversion to left hand drive and other safety and regulatory changes has been made. The cars are being tested in the Indian and International markets after these changes and the launch is expected to happen soon. M&M Chief Executive, International Operations (Automotive & Farm Equipment sectors), Ruzbeh Irani revealed to media that they are also assessing the domestic demand and capacity to decide on the dates. The production numbers of XUV500 will be increased by about 33% in May 2012 to 4000 units per month from 3000 units per month which will help ease the waiting periods in domestic markets as well as provide sufficient capacity to start with the exports. The production capacity of Mahindra XUV500 in India will be further increased to 5000 units per month in coming months.

The official timeline for the launch has not been revealed, but considering the fact that it’s a priority for M&M we expect the Mahindra XUV500 Launch in Australia, Italy and Chile in coming 3 to 6 months timeframe. Mahindra and Mahindra has been delaying the launch in international markets for quite some time because of the overwhelming domestic demand of the Mahindra XUV500. The reason for high demand is the value for money and character of the XUV500 which makes it one of the most sought after SUV in its segment.
There has been higher bookings and draw for the customers in Feb 2012 when the second round of bookings opened in India. In fact the pan-India launch of Mahindra XUV500 has also been delayed because of the overwhelming demand and limited production capacity. Since Mahindra is working on increasing the production capacity to meet the demands, Russia and South Korea will also see the launch of Mahindra XUV500 sometime in future.
