Business tycoon Cyrus Mistry dies in road accident after the Mercedes SUV he was travelling in hit a divider
Cyrus Mistry, ex-chairman of Tata Sons, passed away in a road accident in Palghar, Mumbai. Mistry was returning from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in his Mercedes SUV. Two other occupants of his car, including his driver, have sustained injuries in this crash.

Mercedes SUV Hits Divider
As per the Maharashtra police, the Mercedes SUV Cyrus Mistry was travelling in collided with a road divider. Two out of the four occupants of the vehicle, including Mistry, died on the spot. The other two, which includes the driver, have been admitted to a hospital. Cyrus Mistry was the chairman of Tata Sons from 2012 to 2016. The successor of Ratan Tata was often in news for his disagreement with Ratan Tata. In fact, he even fought a court battle with Tata Group till 2021. The 54-year-old belonged to the Shapoorji Mistry family and is survived by two sons.
Speaking to PTI, a police official said,“The accident took place around 3.15 pm, when Mistry was travelling to Mumbai from Ahmedabad. The accident took place on a bridge over the Surya river. It seems an accident.” Visuals of the Mercedes SUV that have emerged from the accident spot show excessive damage to the car’s front-end. Even the front airbags of the vehicle have deployed. However, there are no more details available at the moment. Tata Motors made some major advancements under the leadership of Cyrus Mistry. It was under his leadership that the carmaker replaced the dated Indica and Indigo with the Bolt and the Zest. The latter even bagged a respectable 4-star score from Global NCAP in the adult protection category.

PM Modi Expresses Grief
Tata Motors made some major advancements under the leadership of Cyrus Mistry. It was under his leadership that the carmaker replaced the dated Indica and Indigo with the Bolt and the Zest. The latter even bagged a respectable 4-star score from Global NCAP in the adult protection category. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the demise of Mistry. He tweeted,
“The untimely demise of Shri Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess. His passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry. Condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace,” Mr. Modi’s tweet read.
