Mahindra Scorpio Classic has garnered unprecedented demand ever since the bookings opened having received over 1 lakh reservations in under 30 mins.
This is the pre-update Mahindra Scorpio that features colossal 28-inch alloys. Scorpio has always been a preferred choice for all those who look for an SUV that has a rugged appearance, imposing road presence, plenty of utilitarian aspects and great practicality. Over the years, Scorpio has proven to be exactly that and more which is the reason for its never-ending success for such a long time. But installing such large alloy wheels takes the road presence aspect a notch higher.

Mahindra Scorpio with 28-inch Alloys
This video clip has been shared by diljitkooner and tyreworldjalandhar on Instagram. It shows the last-gen Scorpio in black with a few modified bits. This includes bright C-shaped LED DRLs on the bumper and these humungous 28-inchers. The design has been inspired by the turbine blade pattern that looks incredible. Being so oversized, the ground clearance of the SUV seems to have increased a lot as the Scorpio sits quite high above the surface. Also, the ultra-low profile tyres are visible in the video clip.

Negative Effects of Such Modification
The thing with such wheels and tyres is that their surface area is large which leads to enhanced traction. As a result, the cornering ability and handling of any vehicle will experience a positive impact. This is natural since there will be an increased grip. On the contrary, the sidewall of a low-profile tyre is inherently thin. This reduces the cushioning effect due to less rubber resulting in degraded ride quality. This causes the thuds from potholes and other undulations on the road to creep in. The occupants will be able to feel the thuds more prominently.

Finally, the other aspect of such large aftermarket alloys is the increased weight. The stock tyre size on the Scorpio Classic is 17-inch. But 28-inchers will be significantly heavier than the stock tyres. This will cause the mileage to drop considerably since the engine will need more fuel to produce more power to carry the added weight. Also, you might want to check it with your local RTO because raising the height of a car is not allowed in India. Make sure to weigh the pros and cons of installing such tyres before making a decision.
