Honda City is one of the popular sedans in its segment in India and is in good demand, the number of units sold in Feb 2012 were over 6000 units which is a strong number. With the new price tag, there is a dip in sales expected, but it will not be too sharp since all brands and almost all car’s prices have gone up in India after Indian Union Budget 2012-13 has been announced. One of the reasons we think that Honda is not hesitating to pass on all the increased excise duty to customers is that it is confident about Honda City’s popularity and does not want to shrink its profitability further in India.
The new price hike will be effective from April 2012 and will make Honda City slightly more expansive in India.
