Maruti has been naming its SUVs Grand Vitara for a long time now. We have previously compiled the list of 4 SUVs with Vitara nameplates. The latest of these is the upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara mid-size SUV that will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It will be based on the Toyota Hyryder under the Joint Venture of Toyota and Maruti Suzuki. For now, let us compare the specifications of the 3 Grand Vitara SUVs from Maruti in this article.

Now, it is clear from the table above how far Maruti Grand Vitara SUVs have come from their original shape and form. The very first Grand Vitara had a 6-cylinder engine with a mileage of just 7.1 kmpl. There was the option of 4WD which made it quite a potent off-roading vehicle.

In the second generation, Maruti reduced the size of the engine while keeping the specs almost similar. However, the big difference was a huge jump in mileage. And in the upcoming iteration, the engine has an electrified system which will improve the mileage further although the actual figures have not yet been revealed.

The first-gen Maruti Grand Vitara was, by far, the longest of the lot and had the longest wheelbase. This was necessary to accommodate the third row to complete the 7-seat arrangement. The second generation model was significantly shorter because it was a 5-seater. The final details of the upcoming Grand Vitara are not out yet. But going by the Toyota Hyryder on which it is based and the segment that it caters to, it is safe to assume that it will be the shortest of the group and could measure around 4.3 m.
