The Hyundai i20 is a popular car in the Indian market. It comes with quite a tough body for its segment. In recent Global NCAP crash tests, the car received a 3-star adult safety rating. One Hyundai fan was apparently not happy with this result and took it upon themselves to crash-test the new car. Nikhil Rana has shared the details of the incident on his YouTube channel to raise awareness of safety standards in modern vehicles. Let’s take a closer look.

As you can see in the video above, the Hyundai i20 hits a brick pillar at a certain speed and scored a “5-star” rating. While the wall seems intact, there are prominent dents on the front end of the car. However, the damage ends with the front grille and headlamp cluster. While this test indicates that the i10 sports a strong build, the unsupervised test is incredibly stupid. This is another incident of a seemingly cool stunt that puts the lives of the driver at risk along with that of others. Additionally, it is incredibly stupid to damage your car intentionally. While the sheer display of stupidity is a sight to behold, we advise our readers to never attempt something like this.
There has been a huge increase in the awareness of safe cars in India. Customers are now looking at the safety ratings and crash test scores before purchasing a vehicle. This has also forced car manufacturers to offer cars with the better build quality and safety equipment. Some brands have also started to present the safety ratings as a USP of new models. The Hyundai i20 is powered by a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol that offers 82hp of power and 114Nm of torque. While a 1.5-liter diesel outputs 100PS/ 240Nm, the 1.0-liter turbo petrol produces 120PS/ 171Nm. All three engine options come with the manual, CVT, iMT, and DCT transmission options. The current-gen Hyundai i20 is priced between Rs 6.98 lakh and Rs 11.47 lakh, ex-showroom. It competes with the likes of Maruti Baleno, Tata Altroz and Volkswagen Polo.
