Audi has officially revealed third generation of its sporty and luxurious hatchback 2013 Audi A3 at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 in Switzerland. The production model of 2013 Audi A3 will launch in 2012 with a 1.6 Litre TDI Diesel engine with a fuel efficiency rating of 26.3 KMPL (61.90 MPG) on Diesel. The 3 door Audi A3 hatchback is a light weight car which is about 80 Kg lighter compared to the 2nd generation.

The chassis of the A3 is rigid for sporty and agile handling. The 1.6 Litre Diesel engine is sporty but fuel efficient at the same time with turbocharged CRDI Diesel Engine technology. The A3 also incorporates start stop or Micro-hybrid technology which improved the overall fuel efficiency of the car. The A3 has an overall length of 4.24 m, width of 1.77 m, height of 1.42 m and a wheelbase of 2.6 m. The interiors of 2013 Audi A3 have been redesigned with more of horizontal lines, has high built quality and premium feel in the cabin. Its has a colour display on the dashboard for driver information system which provides detailed information in high quality graphics.

There are some high tech optional features like adaptive lighting, magnetic ride suspension and a panoramic glass sunroof. Some of the high tech features include radar-assisted adaptive cruise control to Audi side assist, Audi active lane assist, traffic sign detection, park assist and the Audi pre sense basic safety system. Apart from this there is sound system from Bang & Olufsen and MMI navigation plus. The base price of the A3 with the entry-level engine, which will follow around the end of the year, will be 21,600 euros ( 14.2 Lakhs INR) in Germany.

The engine options include two petrol and one diesel engine with power output ranging between 122 BHP to 180 BHP and torque ranging between 200 Nm to 32 Nm depending on engine option. The engines are mated to either 6 speed manual transmission or a 7-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission system with a dual clutch transmission for high performance and efficiency. All these options come in the front wheel drive only and the 4 wheel drive quattro system will be launched in coming few years probably in next generation of A3. The A3 comes with 16 and 17 inch alloy wheels and offers powerful disk brakes with ESC stabilization program for safety.
