It is time for the upcoming Toyota Hyryder mid-size SUV to grab all the news on the internet considering how important it is going to be for Toyota and Maruti to challenge the dominance of Hyundai and Kia in the segment.
This digital rendition of the Toyota Hyryder (codenamed D22) borrows a few design elements from the Suzuki Vitara. The Vitara was sold in India a few years ago and is still a prominent product in Suzuki’s international fleet. Therefore, designing this illustration of the Hyryder with some elements from it makes sense and is also something that we might actually witness. The official unveiling is set for July 1, 2022, with the Maruti’s slightly distinguished version to follow soon after.

Toyota Hyryder Based On Suzuki Vitara
The overall projection of this Hyryder is quite sleek and modern. The design philosophy sits very much in line with the general design language of the Japanese carmaker. At the front, the narrow chrome belt running on the grille merges spotlessly into the LED DRLs placed on the bumper, the main headlights are positioned on the bumper signifying a modern design choice, there is a massive front grille atop the grey splitter/skid plate at the bottom. These elements give the front a sporty stance.

On the sides, there are no prominent creases, but the chrome side body cladding looks quite elegant, the side pillars are painted and so is the roof. The roof rails are not too massive and the shark fin antenna is visible from the side too. There is a unique chrome belt running on the top of the windows. The wheel arches are quite profound and the alloy wheel design is snazzy too. From the side view, it looks like the SUV has a decent amount of ground clearance. Let us see if Toyota decides to puts any of these design patterns into the production-spec version or not.

While the exact details of the specifications on the Toyota Hyryder are not out, it is confirmed that the SUV will come with two 1.5-liter petrol options both of which will have a hybrid system. While one will feature a mild hybrid system, the other will have a strong or a full hybrid powertrain that may be capable of driving on pure electric power for short distances. Also, the SUV will be underpinned by the DNGA platform, which is simply a low-cost alternative to the sophisticated TNGA platform. This is much like how VW Group is using MQB-A0-IN instead of MQB platform for its made-for-India vehicles.
