Merely a few weeks after an Ola S1 Pro user reported suspension breakage while use, another such incident has come to light
On 15 April, a couple of images that surfaced online showed an Ola S1 Pro with a broken front suspension. It was being said that the entire front wheel and the forks came off while the scooter was being ridden but the rider escaped major injuries. A representative of Ola Electric declined giving an official comment. Today, though, a similar incident has come to light wherein an owner alleges the entire front suspension breaking off while the vehicle was in use.

No Injuries Reported
Sharing the incident on Facebook, the owner of the vehicle writes:“Hi All, Any one facing this type of issues. Thank God not happened anything to me and my son. My scooter front suspension frame was broken in middle of the road with the speed of 45 kmph during applying front and rear brakes.” If the owner is to be believed, this is a serious quality lapse, which, once again, raises questions on the quality of the scooter. Already, Ola S1 Pro has been in the limelight for quality issues reported by many owners. In fact, the EV-maker received a lot of flak from social media users after it threatened an owner of legal action if he doesn’t delete social media posts on his issues with the vehicle.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the latest incident and it doesn’t look like the Ola S1 Pro would need major repairs to get back to shape. Sadly, though, there have been several reports of software glitches and quality issues and the same has led to a steep drop in the excitement around the EV. Talking of the latest case, such mishaps not only spoil the ownership experience but even pose a serious threat to the safety of the user as well as to that of other road users. Earlier this year, another owner of the electric scooter claimed that he could just about escape a sticky situation when his vehicle automatically switched to reverse model at a high speed.

After many fire incidents in electric two-wheelers, the central government tasked Defence Research and Development organization (DRDO) with investigating these mishaps. Now, finally, DRDO’s wing Centre for Fire, Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) has submitted its report. It has reported serious defects in the batteries. Basically, bad battery design and defective EV modules have been reported as the cause of the fires. As per the Economic Times, these defects are caused due to the low-grade materials manufacturers use to cut down the production cost. The government has now summoned manufacturers like Ola Electric, Okinawa and Pure EV to know why these companies used low-grade material.
