Being promoted as the ‘The Big Daddy’, the new generation Mahindra Scorpio has an uncanny resemblance with the latest Maruti WagonR
Launched in early 2019, the latest-gen Maruti WagonR debuted with the ‘Big New WagonR’ tagline. New Mahindra Scorpio Design
As seen above, the rear-end of the new Mahindra Scorpio is sure to remind you of the latest Maruti WagonR. Much of this is due to the similar form factor of the taillamps. Frankly, there’s no other similarity but given the highly similar design of the tail lights, the two modes are sure to look a lot like each other when seen from the rear. Similarities between designs and styling elements of various models isn’t uncommon. In fact, the latest WagonR’s lighting arrangement itself looks like a low-cost knock-off of the latest crop of Volvo SUVs. But as irony would have it, the tallboy from Maruti is many times more popular than premium Swedish SUVs, which means one would tend to associate the rear-end of the new Mahindra SUV with the Maruti Suzuki offering rather than, say, an XC60.

Leaked through a set of images earlier today, the new Mahindra Scorpio looks all set to replace the current generation of the popular SUV. By now, what’s clear is that the new model will be a size bigger than the vehicle it’s about to replace, which means one can expect the dimensions to be close to those of the Tata Harrier. The front-end carries a bold look and the side-profile is slightly reminiscent of the Mahindra XUV500. The rear, however, will be a hit or miss among the audience due to the uncanny similarity with the WagonR.
