The largest passenger car maker of India, Maruti Suzuki has reached another huge milestone of its own, 1 crore (10 million) car sales in India! Maruti Suzuki India achieved this sales number on 9th February 2012 with half of the total sales 50 Lakhs (5 million) cars sold in 24 years from year 1983 to 2006 and other 50 lakhs (5 million) cars sold in just last 6 years, which is just 25% of the previous half sales duration ! Isn’t it an astonishing fact how car sales have grown in past 6 years !
The star sellers in these 30 years span have been the legendary Maruti 800 which has sold 26.36 Lakh units till date and the younger sibling Maruti Alto along with the Maruti Alto K10 which have together sold over 19.08 units in under 12 years of its launch in India (launched in September 2000). Maruti Omni Van, which is used for passenger as well as commercial purposes has also sold over 14.37 lakh units in India. If we go father in this race, the Maruti Wagon R has also clocked 11.14 Lakh units of sales and Maruti Swift has sold over 6.85 lakh units in India till date.
