Along with the increment in price, MG Astor even loses lower variants temporarily
MG Astor is one of the popular premium crossovers in India. It comes in multiple variants – Style, Super, Smart, Sharp, and Savvy. Most variants of the midsize SUV have an average waiting period of two to three months. However, the Smart petrol-manual variants have a waiting period of five to six months. Since MG is currently focusing on delivering its existing orders of the Astor, it has temporarily paused bookings for the lower Style and Super variants. Additionally, the MG Motor has increased the prices of its SUV line-up in India. Hence, with the discontinuation of the entry-level trims, the MG Astor is now available with a starting price of Rs 13.28 lakh.

Previously, the base Style trim came with a starting price of Rs 9.98 lakh. After the price-hike, the MG Hector, Hector Plus, and Gloster are up to Rs 50,000 costlier. The MG Gloster is now priced at Rs 31.49 lakh – 39.49 lakh (up from the Rs 30.99 lakh – 38.99 lakh). While the MG Hector now comes with a starting price of Rs 14.15 lakh, the Hector Plus is currently priced at Rs 18.65 lakh – 20.75 lakh. The top-spec MG Astor Savvy turbo-petrol automatic variant costs up to Rs 17.72 lakh. However, the price of the ZS EV price remains unchanged.
Moreover, Autocar reports that the Style and Super trims have been discontinued temporarily as the carmaker is currently focussed on delivering the existing orders. With the suspension of bookings for the Style and Super variants, the entry-level price of the Astor has seen a pretty huge increment, with prices now starting at Rs 13.28 lakh for the Smart model. With this, the base price has gone up by Rs 3.3 lakh. The fully-loaded Savvy Turbo variant costs Rs 17.22 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). For now, the Hyundai Creta rival is on sale in three trims – Smart, Sharp and Savvy.

The MG Astor comes with the option of either a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine making 140 PS and 220 Nm or a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 110 PS and 144 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The turbo petrol comes with a sole 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox while the regular petrol comes with either a 5-speed manual or an 8-speed CVT gearbox. Additional highlights include 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, panoramic sunroof, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), and a 360-degree camera. The rivals include the popular Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun.
