Toyota Innova Crysta EV vs Diesel – Design Comparison
While the overall silhouette and design language of these MPVs remain identical, there are some distinctive elements to ascertain which power source the vehicle uses. The Innova EV features additional blue inserts inside the headlight cluster, on the Toyota brand logo, there are blue graphics running from the front fender all the way back to the rear quarter on both sides establishing the ‘green’ credentials of the car, to further drive the point home, one could find the ‘electric’ and ‘EV’ badges on front fenders as well. The most prominent aspect of an EV is the closed grille upfront as no airflow is needed for the operation.
Apart from that, the design language remains the same with a broad front end, sleek headlamp unit, stylish alloy wheel design, large overhangs, split taillamps connected by the chrome bar, roof-integrated spoiler, etc. The dashboard layout and other bits on the inside remain the same as well. The difference is seen on the instrument cluster which will have dedicated information regarding battery status, powertrain info, range and regenerative brake levels.

The specs of the EV variant of the Innova Crysta have not been released yet. Nevertheless, it could be expected that the focus of the battery pack, in this case, will be on maximising the range instead of offering outstanding performance. This is true if Toyota decides to bring it to our shores. Being a people carrier, the priority with the Innova EV will definitely be the range. With the regular Innova ranging between Rs 17.30 lakh and Rs 25.32 lakh, ex-showroom, the prices of the EV version would be significantly higher. Also, there are no MPVs in the market that are fully electric. Toyota could take advantage of it to establish the Innova EV as the leader in the electric MPV segment when it sees that sufficient infrastructure is there.
