Now available in UK in the basic variant, the Suzuki Jimny Lite features the same 1.5-litre K-Series engine that powers the Ertiga and Brezza in India
The Suzuki Jimny Lite was revealed in July last year as a lower priced version of the company’s latest mini-off-roader. In spite of being in a lower trim with less features, this Jimny remains mechanically identical to the higher variants, which means there’s little to differentiate between the two versions when it comes to the off-roading prowess. However, what happens when it engages with a tractor in a classic tug of war match? Well, here’s what happens –
Suzuki Jimny Lite vs Tractor Tug of War
Powering this Suzuki Jimny is a 1.5-litre K-Series Naturally Aspirated petrol engine that belts out a maximum of 101PS of power and 130Nm of torque. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and the good part here is that in spite of being in a bare-basic avatar, it still offers Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO four-wheel-drive system with low-range transfer case. In spite of this, though, the Jimny pretty much struggles against an old tractor in the tug of war match, and, in both the rounds, it ends up losing the match.
In fact, in the first round, the tractor manages to effortlessly pull the Jimny across the line and hence, ends up winning the match without much effort. In the next round, in spite of trying hard, the Jimny ends up bowing down to the old tractor in the tug of war match. It needs to be mentioned here that the tractor in question here had a 2.5-litre 3-cylinder diesel engine and weighs over 1,500 kg. It’s also a RWD, which, combined with other traits, makes it a pretty formidable rival to the Jimny. On the other hand, the Jimny weighs just 1135 kg and probably has lower torque than the tractor.
It’s clear that the Suzuki Jimny stands no chance in front of the old tractor and next, the vlogger comes with a Ford Ranger pickup truck to compete with the tractor. The Ford has a 2.0-litre diesel engine with a 170 hp of maximum power and 420 Nm of peak torque. In the first round, the pickup manages to win the tug of war match against the tractor. In the second round, the match ends up in a stalemate as both the vehicles end up digging themselves into ground. Finally, in the third round, the tractor once again loses to the tractor.
