Launched recently, the RE Scram 411 takes on the Yezdi Scrambler other than offering a road-biased alternative to the Himalayan
Available at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 2.03 lakh, the RE Scram 411 is based on the Himalayan but offers a more basic look without the motocross bits. The engine, however, stays unchanged when it comes to the peak output, but Royal Enfield claims to have tweaked it for a peppier performance. Here’s a video that shows us the true top speed on a fairly empty highway.
RE Scram 411 Top Speed
As you would have noticed, the RE Scram 411 tops out around 125 kmph in spite of a fairly long road. However, the rider mentions that the motorcycle reaches 80 kmph quicker than he expected. Powering the new motorcycle is a 411cc, single-cylinder engine that outputs a maximum power of 24.3bhp and a peak torque of 32Nm. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed transmission. Visually, the new motorcycle looks like a stripped down Himalayan as it misses out on motocross-like fender, tall windscreen and the wraparound frame. Instead, it comes with a headlamp cowl, a small plate with 411 branding near the fuel tank and a single-piece seat. It also rides on smaller, 19-inch front wheel and has a 5mm lower seat height. This is something that should help it appear to a wider audience than the Himalayan.
The Scram remains similar to the Himalayan when it comes to the equipment on offer. It gets the same halogen headlamp and a Tripper Navigation system but comes with a different instrument cluster. The instrument panel offers all the information in one display, which is unlike Himalayan system that uses 4 different displays. But its dual-channel ABS can’t be switched off, which is unlike the RE Himalayan’s unit. The RE Scram 411 is available in as many as 7 colours. The Graphite theme is available in three colours – Yellow, Red and Blue. Moreover, you can also opt for the Blazing Black of Skyline Blue colour. Finally, one can even choose between the White Flame and Silver Spirit colour options.
Price
Prices of the RE Scram 411 start at Rs 2.03 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Graphite colours, while the Blazing Black and Skyline Blue options cost Rs 2.05 lakh (ex-showroom). The White Flame and the Silver Spirit are the most expensive with a sticker price of Rs 2.08 lakh (ex-showroom).
