2022 Maruti Baleno Price
The highly updated Maruti Baleno has just launched while its bookings are already underway for Rs 11,000. In fact, the carmaker has already garnered over 16,000 pre-bookings of the hatchback. Prices of the new model will be announced only at the time of the launch but it will, in all likelihood, cost a tad bit more than the outgoing model. However, there are good chances that the several improvements that the new car carries will help it justify a slightly higher price. Akin to the current model, the refreshed version will be seen locking horns with other B2-segment hatchbacks such as the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Honda Jazz. Our guess is that the refreshed Baleno will help its carmaker continue enjoy segment-leading sales for more years to come until it can come up with a proper generation upgrade in the form of a completely new car.
Ex-showroom Price | New Maruti Baleno 2022 |
Sigma MT | Rs 6.35 lakh |
Alpha AGS | Rs 9.49 lakh |
Quite naturally, these improvements will come at a price and the new model is priced in the Rs 6.35-9.49 lakh bracket (ex-showroom). This will not only make the car costlier than the outgoing model (Rs 6.14-9.66 lakh) but even Rs 3,000 dearer than the base model of the arch rival Tata Altroz (Rs 5.99-9.69 lakh). The Hyundai i20, though, will continue to be the costlier car in the segment as it retails in a price range of Rs 6.98-11.47 lakh.

Specs & Mileage
ARAI Mileage | Old Maruti Baleno | New Maruti Baleno 2022 |
Manual | 23.87 kmpl | 22.35 kmpl |
Automatic | 19.56 kmpl | 22.94 kmpl |
2022 Maruti Baleno will feature the same 1.2-litre Dualjet Dual-VVT four-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine that is available on the outgoing model. However, unlike what was being expected, the carmaker doesn’t seem to have bumped up the power and torque outputs to make up for the 70kg increase in the gross weight of the vehicle. What this means is that the new hatchback will offer a maximum power of 90 PS along with a peak torque of 113 Nm. As before, the motor will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. However, unlike the current car, which is available with an optional CVT, the new model will be available with an AMT option on the Delta, Zeta and Alpha trims. Replacing the CVT with the AMT will help Maruti Suzuki price the car competitively and even achieve a higher mileage figure. Compared to the 19.56 kmpl fuel efficiency of the current Baleno CVT, the AMT versions of the upcoming model will offer 22.94 kmpl under the same test conditions. The mileage of the manual transmission variant has gone down a bit from 23.87 kmpl before to 22.35 kmpl for the new model.
