A video captures all the rattles that the cabin of the Skoda Kushaq is plagued with. The owner of the mid-size SUV takes us through these problems one by one. Kushaq is specifically designed for emerging markets like India and marked an important milestone in Skoda’s (and VW’s) India 2.0 strategy. For this to work, Skoda has to price the SUV competitively. To achieve that, there is extensive use of cheap plastics inside the cabin. But that is slowly turning out to be its undoing with the owners complaining about the quality issues in the vehicle. Skoda Kushaq Rattles Video
The Skoda owner takes us through the rattling sounds while the car is parked at the beginning of the video. He starts off by showing the low-quality materials used in the windowpane on the inside. He is easily able to turn and twist it with his hand creating sound. Then, when he takes his car on the ramp, there are distinct and prominent rattles from the cabin. As he starts driving even at low speeds, there are clear noises from around the dashboard area. Later on, he shows that the issue is of the fit and finish of the cheap plastics rather than actual rattling. The cost-cutting measures have resulted in this.

The Skoda Kushaq has been on sale in two engine variants – 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI EVO. The smaller engine outputs a maximum power of 115 PS and a peak torque of 175 Nm, while the larger unit offers a maximum power of 150 PS and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The transmission options for the former include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, while the latter comes with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG. The prices of the Kushaq start at Rs 10.99 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 18.19 lakh, ex-showroom. The rivals of the Kushaq include Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun and MG Astor.
