Today it was an important day for Bajaj as it launched the much awaited KTM brand in India with the first product being the KTM Duke 200 and as expected all the media attention was focused on this very launch. On one hand KTM stepped into the market while on the other, with much less media attention, TVS launched the 2012 TVS Star City.
The Star City has always been an important product for TVS not only because of its affordability but frugality as well. Be it the cities or the rural areas, the bike has helped the firm achieve great sales figures and now with the 2012 model TVS wishes to go even beyond.

H S Goindi, TVS Motor Company President–Marketing said, “This new motorcycle is a winning combination of executive class features and vibrant styling. The backing of high fuel efficiency and toughness will make TVS StaR City a much sought after motorcycle.”
Unlike the ongoing model, the new one gets additional features that make it look more premium in all aspects. The dual tone paint finish, clear lens indicators, new headlamp design has given the bike a new identity and it looks more than a typical executive commuter now.

So on the exterior the company has made some good cosmetic changes but the engine remains the same. It would still come with a 110 CC, four-stroke engine that delivers 8.3 BHP of max power and 8.1 Nm of max torque. Being a commuter segment motorcycle mileage plays a very important role and this bike does not disappoint us at all with its claimed 83.9 kmpl. The credit for this astonishing mileage figure is to be given to TVS’ Constant Variable Timing Ignition(CVTi) technology with optimized port geometry.
On the instrument panel the bike also features power and economy mode indicators along with power and mileage curve maps.
