Unveiled in November 2021, the Skoda Slavia went into production at the Czech carmaker‘s Chakan-based facility last week. The Honda City-rival is slated to launch by March 2022 and many car buyers and enthusiasts seem to have expressed their interest in the new car. Skoda Slavia Specs
The Skoda Slavia will share its engine options with the Kushaq, which means it will be available with two turbocharged petrol units from VW Group’s TSI family of motors. The smaller of these is a 1.0-litre three-pot motor that offers 115hp-175Nm, while the bigger engine displaces 1.5-litre and churns out segment-leading 150hp-250Nm. It also offers cylinder deactivation technology to optimize fuel mileage. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard but buyers can opt for a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox with the 1.0-litre motor or a 7-speed DSG with the 1.5-litre mill. Later this year, the Slavia will be joined by a VW counterpart in the form of the Virtus, which will be sold with the same specifications.

Design and Features
The Skoda Slavia looks a bit like a smaller Octavia, much of which is due to the familiar front fascia carrying signature Skoda grille, and sleek headlamps. The top-spec model will feature plenty of chrome trim, which, along with the large dimensions and muscular stance, should help the car with a high street presence. Yet another highlight of the exterior will be the stylish 16-inch machine-cut alloy wheels.
Inside, the car will feature a dual-tone beige-black theme that makes the cabin look upmarket. The dashboard has a neat layout and carries piano-black trim along with faux wood garnish. It also offers a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that provides the user with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MySkoda connectivity suite. The highlights of the features list will include ventilated seats, leather upholstery, electric sunroof, wireless smartphone charger, auto-dimming IRVM, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, EDS, TPMS, Hill-hold control and rear parking camera.

The upcoming sedan is expected to launch in March this year. As pointed by a social media user, Skoda had earlier planned to put the car on display at its dealerships in the first week of next month. However, it looks like the final homologation is causing. aslight delay and that has pushed back the original plan by a week. The new model will take on the likes of 5th-gen Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. It will be positioned close to the Kushaq and like its sibling, will go on sale in three trims- Active, Ambition and Style. Prices will be revealed only at the time of launch but there are chances of new offering being priced slightly higher than the Kushaq, which means we could be looking at a ballpark range of Rs 11 lakh to 19 lakh (ex-showroom).
