Deliveries of the petrol Mahindra XUV700 started on October 30 while that of the diesel variant started in the last week of November
Launched in early October 2021, the Mahindra XUV700 saw a great response with 50,000 bookings within two days of the price announcement. The deliveries of the SUV started in late October and back then, Mahindra had promised to make the first 14,000 deliveries by January 2022. Now, it looks like the homegrown carmaker has kept its word in spite of facing an acute shortage semiconductor chips. Mahindra has completed the promised deliveries by January 26 and with this, 20 percent of the 70,000 SUVs that have been booked so far have reached their respective owners. Also, quick calculations show that on an average, at least 1 SUV was delivered every 10 minutes since October 30. It must be mentioned here that the deliveries of the petrol variant started on October 30 while those of the diesel version started in the last week of November.
Bookings of the new flagship SUV first started on October 7, 2021, and the carmaker registered 25,000 bookings in just 57 minutes of the opening of the order book. The online booking was started again the next month and again, the company received an overwhelming response with 25,000 bookings in just about 2 hours of the booking window opening. So, basically, 50,000 of the total 70,000 bookings were made on the first two days of the start of orders. The Mahindra XUV700 is currently available in a price range of Rs 12.95 – 23.79 Lakh (ex-showroom). It’s available with petrol and diesel engine options, with both the motors being available with manual and automatic transmission choices.
The diesel version of the Mahindra XUV700 is powered by a 2.2-litre turbocharged unit that produces 155 PS/360 Nm in entry-level MX trima and 185 PS/420 Nm in AX trims. In fact, it offers 450 Nm with the automatic transmission. The petrol version is propelled by a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit that punches out a maximum power of 200 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm. Transmission options for both the engines include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic unit. The SUV comes with various segment-first features such as Smart Door Handles, built-in Alexa integration, Intelligence AdrenoX, a 3D Sound System with 12 speakers, and more.
Even though 14,000 units of the Mahindra XUV700 have been delivered in the promise time, there’s still a huge backlog that has pushed the waiting period to up to 22 months. Not just this, the SUV has even received two price increases in the 4 months it’s been on sale and on-road price of the fully-loaded variant has increased by up to Rs 1.75 lakh in some states.
