Some visuals captured in Assam show how a Hero Splendor has left Maruti Baleno badly damaged in a head-on accident that took place recently
The Maruti Baleno is easily the most popular B2-segment hatchback to have ever gone on sale in the Indian car market. This premium small car was launched back in 2015 and received a facelift a few years later. It has been appreciated for its comfortable ride, high fuel efficiency, good performance and attractive price. However, it has even received a lot of flak for allegedly below-par build quality. While the low NCAP scores of India-made models have played a role in this perception, several accidents in which the car has sustained major damages have also led to the formation of this belief.

It is important to mention here that the India-spec Maruti Baleno has not been tested by Global NCAP. However, different NCAP bodies across the world have put to test the made-in-India Baleno and the results have been pretty varying. For example, in the Euro NCAP test, the Suzuki Baleno, which is made in our country, has managed to achieve a respectable 4-star rating. This model comes equipped with radar-based braking and, also, automatic emergency braking. On the other hand, the car has scored an appalling 0-star in the crash test conducted by Latin NCAP.

Coming to the accident seen in the video above, it has taken place in Assam. A Hero Splendor that was on the wrong side of the road has had a head on collision with a Maruti Baleno. As you can see, the car has sustained some major damage. The front-end is completely mangled as the motorcycle has left the bumper as well as the bonnet totally deformed. In fact, the motorcycle is also sure to have damaged the radiator as well as the AC condenser of the vehicle. Fortunately, there have been no casualties as both the occupants of the car were totally protected and came out of the vehicle completely scratchless. The motorcycle rider, on the other hand, did sustain some injuries but nothing life-threatening.
