The news of the Suzuki Jimny making it to our shores has been going around for a while now. But is this the final product that we might see on the roads?
Here is how the Indian Suzuki Jimny could look like. Jimny has been in the news for a while now. The new Mahindra Thar’s success must’ve motivated Suzuki to try out the Jimny. Thar has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success in the market right from the launch. It is a perfect lifestyle off-roader. Jimny, on the other hand, is a famous mini off-roading machine in the international markets. It allows you to go places with an SUV that is affordable. Suzuki is already manufacturing the Jimny in India for exports. But India itself could be a huge market for it. We will have to see if the Indian Suzuki Jimny could look something like this.

Indian Suzuki Jimny Speculative Look
This is a similar version to the one sold in the international market. The overall silhouette is that of a boxy little SUV. The front end generally features round headlamp units, a Jeep-type front grille, short overhangs to aid approach and departure angles, etc. The sides feature a subtle profile with no sharp creases. This is a 5-door version which is what will most likely be launched in India as well. The read window is separated from the A-pillar in this design. The rear holds the spare tyre on the boot lid along with the taillamps on the bumper down below. In terms of the shape of the SUV, it retains the traditional tall and boxy look like we have seen on the Gypsy over the years.

Expected Specs
The Suzuki Jimny will most likely be powered with the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, which makes 103hp and 138Nm. It is the same engine that powers the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ciaz and Ertiga. There will be a 5-speed manual or an AMT on offer and maybe the inclusion of drive modes to enhance terrain responses and traction control. It will have a 4×4 drive system. We expect the prices to remain in the vicinity of the Thar, say from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, ex-showroom range. It will be sold through the NEXA department of Maruti Suzuki. The direct rival will include Mahindra Thar along with the recently launched Force Gurkha.
