According to some leaked documents, the top-end Mahindra XUV300 is likely to lose some key safety features with the upcoming update. The XUV300 is one of the most feature-packed compact SUVs in the segment. It boasts of a full 5-star safety rating at the GNCAP as well. That is partly due to the strong build and modern safety kit on board. It is the only compact SUV with 7 airbags in the top trim. However, that might be about to change very soon. The XUV300 will also come with the new 1.2-litre direction injection turbo petrol engine from Mahindra’s own mStallion family very soon. This engine will output a cool 130 hp and 230 Nm of peak power and torque. Let us discuss the deletion of features first.

Mahindra XUV300 – Deleted Safety Features
This brochure states the things that will likely be deleted in the newer models of the XUV300. To start with, there will now be 6 airbags instead of 7 in the top W8(O) trim. However, it must be noted that this won’t affect the safety rating of the SUV in any form since the GNCAP tests the base versions of the vehicle which has only 2 airbags. Secondly, the seal belt reminder system for the second row will also be unavailable with the new model. Another convenience feature of the Remote Keyless Entry button on the passenger side will be taken out. You also won’t find the rear fog lamps in your new XUV300 in stock settings. However, it could be added as an accessory if one wishes. If you want these features, now would be the best time to buy the Mahindra XUV300.

The powertrain options include a 1.2-litre turbo petrol making 110 PS and 200 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel making 115 PS and 300 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox which can be combined with any of the powertrains. The prices of the Mahindra XUV300 range between Rs 7.95 lakh and Rs 13.46 lakh, ex-showroom. It rivals the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and more.
