Launched recently, the Skoda Slavia has attracted many C2-segment sedan buyers. On the other hand, even the Kushaq has been doing well in the C-segment SUV market and will soon get the signature Monte Carlo edition. Bearing that in mind, it might be just a matter of time before the Skoda Slavia Monte Carlo is revealed. It must be noted that the Slavia and Kushaq are the pillars of Skoda’s India 2.0 strategy, which saw the advent of the India-specific MQB-A0-IN platform.

Skoda Slavia Monte Carlo Edition
The Kushaq was the first product to come from that platform and the Slavia became the second. Replacing the Rapid in our market, the premium mid-size sedan has taken the limelight away from the likes of Honda City. It has even proven to be a strong rival to the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Ciaz. Now that the Kushaq has already been given the Monte Carlo treatment (launch soon), a similar special edition of the sedan sibling could be on the anvil and launch towards the end of the year. In line with that, let’s take a look at this non-commissioned concept that helps us imagine what the actual could would look like.
Made by SRK Designs, the front end of the sedan has seen the most thorough design changes. The chrome on the regular version of the Slavia has been replaced by blacked-out materials. This is evident from the large butterfly grille and the fog lamp housing at the front. The sleek LED headlamps also feature black background in the headlight cluster. The sides have been accentuated by the single tone red paint shade including the door handles. The design of the alloy wheels is refreshed and looks modern. The A, B and C-pillars are completely blacked-out to achieve a sporty appearance. The entire body shell has been inspired by the Monte Carlo edition that was on sale with the current model.

The Skoda Slavia went on sale on 28 February and is available in two variants – 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre TSI EVO turbo-petrol. The former outputs 115PS-178Nm, while the latter offers 150PS-250Nm. While both the engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, there’s a 6-speed torque-converter automatic and a 7-speed DSG option for 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre engine variants, respectively. Later this year, the Slavia will be joined by its VW-badged sibling that recently debuted under the Virtus moniker.
