A Ford EcoSport owner feels that his SUV exhibits a better pickup post the recall that Ford announced. The EcoSport diesel variant has been notorious for giving trouble to the owners regarding the DPF issue. For the uninitiated, DPF stands for Diesel Particulate Filter which helps the vehicle meet the stringent BS6 emission norms. However, it requires regular cleaning. That could be done by driving the car at around 60 km/h @ 2000 RPM for about 25 mins. As one would imagine, such a scenario is not possible in daily use. This meant that a lot of owners would get the DPF error symbol and there was no other way to fix it than to take it to the service centre where this process is done manually. But finally, Ford has announced a recall wherein a software update and part replacement might solve this issue once and for all. Let us see how that works when one EcoSport owner got it done.

EcoSport Owner Experiences Better Pickup After Recall
A certain Muneer Qureshi post his experience on Facebook. He hails from Srinagar and received the notification from a local Ford dealer about the recall for the EcoSport diesel variants. He went in for the software update. Post the recall and service, he experienced a better pickup in his vehicle. This is definitely a positive, but whether the DPF issue is completely gone or not, remains to be seen. This image shows the software update in progress. We don’t know if he got the DPF part replaced as well or not. But he says that the service personnel were very confident that this update will solve the DPF issue for good. If this works, that will be a huge relief for all the EcoSport owners as this problem has been plaguing the community for quite some time now. People have been vocal about it on social media.

Ford EcoSport
Before the discontinuation, the Ford EcoSport came with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine good for 120 hp and 149 Nm and the 1.5-litre diesel engine makes 100 hp and 215 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. There are options of either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The EcoSport was among the very first compact SUVs in the country that led the segment to where it is today. It is unfortunate that we won’t see more of it anymore after Ford decided to stop manufacturing in India.
