In late August, we mentioned how an accident between the Skoda Kushaq and a Maruti Dzire has highlighted the strong build of the former. Well. in case the visuals of the mishap weren’t enough to convince you, it now looks like we have some concrete proof of the new compact SUV’s build quality. As you can see in the image below, a test drive unit of the Skoda Kushaq has sustained major damage in a mishap. While the car could have to be declared as a total-loss, the good part is that all the occupants travelling in it are totally safe and sound. Also, the protection it has provided to the occupants surely hints at a high NCAP score when the compact SUV goes to the GNCAP testbed.

The accident happened at Abhva Road, Surat, and a road user who first saw this accident immediately stopped to offer help. Initially, going by the intensity of the accident, he thought that the occupants would have sustained major injuries. However, he was quick to realize that all the occupants were totally fine. While one of the four occupants had sustained some minor bruises, the other three were scratchless. It is said that the test unit of the Kushaq had hit the divider at a high speed and toppled over.

Soon, the dealership team had reached the site of the accident and was very proactive with helping the prospective buyer as well as ensuring there’s no traffic jam on the road owing to the mishap. The person who has posted these images on social media has himself booked a Skoda Kushaq. However, he was a bit unsure owing to the many cases of EPC error that have surfaced. However, after seeing how the car managed to keep all the occupants safe in an accident, he says he just can’t wait to take the delivery of his vehicle.

The Skoda Kushaq has been on sale in two engine variants – 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI EVO. The top-end automatic trim of the latter has even received additional airbags and TPMS after the carmaker registered the customer feedback demanding the same. The smaller engine outputs a maximum power of 115PS and a peak torque of 175Nm, while the larger unit offers a maximum power of 150PS and a peak torque of 250Nm. The transmission options for the former include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, while the latter comes with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG. Prices of the new model range from Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 17.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
