The popular compact SUV from Mahindra, the XUV300, is set to lose some key features from its top variant. This, even though, the XUV300 has been the most expensive product in its segment. The car has gained quite a few loyal customers owing to its striking looks and a long list of features. As a matter of fact, the features list on the XUV300 had a ton of segment-first tech. However, Mahindra has been slowly getting rid of some of these features to make a great financial proposition for itself. Instead of hiking the price, it is cutting down on some premium features to balance things out. Earlier, Mahindra had deleted features like the three-point seatbelt for the middle rear passenger seat, heated wing mirrors to offset the hike in cost. XUV300 Loses Features From Top Variant
According to some reports and dealership information, Mahindra will no longer offer the knee airbag in the W8(O) top variant. This means that the XUV300 will have 6 airbags in its fully-loaded top-trim instead of 7. The point to note here is that this won’t result in any change in the 5-star Global NCAP safety rating of the compact SUV because the test was already done on a lower variant. Hence, the Mahindra XUV700 will still continue to be a 5-star safety-rated vehicle. In addition to this, the W8 and W8(O) variants will also drop the door ajar lamps which were a part of the features list until now. To add to this, Mahindra might still have to impose a price hike of around Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the variant. Therefore, this might be the best time to go for the XUV300 before these changes come into effect.

The powertrain options include a 1.2-litre turbo petrol making 110 PS and 200 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel making 115 PS and 300 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox which can be combined with any of the powertrains. The prices of the Mahindra XUV300 range between Rs 7.95 lakh and Rs 13.33 lakh, ex-showroom. It rivals the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and more. The Mahindra XUV300 with a more powerful 1.2-litre direct injection mStallion engine is also about to launch soon. It will make 130 hp and 230 Nm of peak power and torque respectively.
