Hyundai is planning to bring in a Maruti Ertiga rival in India. The MPV has been caught testing multiple times in the international market. Currently, the Ertiga is ruling the reign in the affordable MPV segment which hosts just one other product in Mahindra Marazzo. To challenge the domination of Ertiga, Hyundai plans to bring the MPV, which will likely be name Stargazer in India. It will likely come in 6 or 7-seat configurations. The MPC has been spied yet again but in a camouflaged avatar. The launch might take place sometime in the second half of 2022. It will be based on the same platform as the Alcazar in India. Let us take a look at what to expect from the upcoming Ertiga rival.

Hyundai Stargazer – Maruti Ertiga Rival
While the design has not been showcased yet, the overall silhouette is visible even in the camouflaged avatar. It will measure around the same dimensions as the Alcazar. The Stargazer may have a resemblance with the Gusto MPV from Hyundai in the international market. The exterior design may also be inspired by the Creta SUV with a large grille with a chrome finish according to the latest design language of the brand. The A, B and C-pillars are blacked-out and the alloy wheels are stylish like in the Alcazar with a diamond-cut pattern. All in all, it will sit somewhere in between Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta.

Expected Specs
Hyundai in India has some interesting powertrain options that could be used for the Stargazer. There is the 1.5-litre petrol engine making 115 PS and 144 Nm as in the Creta. Then there is a 1.5-litre diesel making 115 PS and 250 Nm. Hyundai could also power the Stargazer with the 2.0-litre petrol engine which develops 159 PS and 191 Nm. There are options of a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox as well.

Being a Hyundai, the Stargazer will sport a ton of modern features including Digital Infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Connected Car Tech, Digital Instrument Cluster, Automatic Climate Control, Steering-Mounted Controls, 6/7-seat Arrangement and a ton of other modern equipment. The arrival of the Hyundai Stargazer to rival the Maruti Ertiga will give the customers an option of owning something a bit more premium than Ertiga at a relatively lower price than the Innova Crysta.
