MG Motor India will finally reveal the Astor SUV through a virtual event tomorrow. However ahead of the official debut, the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos rivalling model has been spied on the outskirts of Gurugram undergoing its TVC ad shoot Apparently, the interior of the MG Astor was being shot in a rather secluded spot a few kilometres from the carmaker’s headquarters.

The MG Astor will become the carmaker’s first model to offer AI-powered personal assistant. This feature has been designed by an American company called Star Design and it’s powered by the carmaker’s i-SMART suite. This personal assistant promises to offer seamless communication with the users. Other than offering such advanced features, the SUV will even offer usual equipment such as a large-screen infotainment unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, and more.

The MG Astor will also become the only compact SUV to provide its users with the Level-2 Autonomous driving technology. Hence, the car will be equipped with mid-range radars and a set of cameras that will all work together to make driving easier as well safer. Some of the features of Level 2 ADAS include – cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Rear Drive Assist (RDA), and speed assist system. Meanwhile, the personal assistant of the MG Astor will work in tandem with several in-car services like Jio Saavn, MapMyIndia-powered navigation, Blockchain-protected vehicle digital passport by KoineArth, et al. Moreover, the system will even enable the users to reserve a parking sport through the Park+ feature provided by the touchscreen interface.
The MG Astor will be sold with two petrol engine options, including a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine. These are the same motors that are available in the international-spec MG ZS. Both the motors will be available with manual and automatic transmission options. The new model should be priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom), and will go on to rival modes like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun.
