Here are a couple of speculative images of a 400cc Bajaj Pulsar that seems to have been based on the NS200 streetnaked motorcycle
The Bajaj Pulsar has been one of the most recognized brand names in the market for over two decades now. The range of mass market-yet-fun-to-ride motorcycles began with 150cc and 180cc models and today, we have the Pulsar series comprising models right from 125cc to 220cc engine segments. What’s even more interesting is that in spite of the advent of a new-gen platform that debuted on the NS200, the original 150cc and 180cc models continue to exist, albeit, with many updates. Around Auto Expo 2014, the Pune-based motorcycle manufacturer showcased the Bajaj Pulsar SS400 and CS400 concepts but the later took birth as the Dominar. Now, though, it’s being said that a 400cc Bajaj Pulsar will finally take birth in a fully-faired avatar.

Recently, we came across a few renderings of a Bajaj Pulsar concept from ABIN Design’s on Instagram. While this concept is not officially commissioned by Bajaj Auto Ltd, it sure looks jut right to be used to spawn the 400cc Bajaj Pulsar we’ve all been waiting for. Based on the NS200, this concept features a full front fairing. The fascia seems to be inspired from the Bajaj Pulsar 220 and carries the same projector headlight and rear view mirrors. The fly screen, however, looks bigger. The mudguard is also new and so are the upside-down front forks. The disc brake, however, seems to be related to the one available on the P220. Meanwhile, the alloy wheels look new and so is the wide soft-compound front tire.
Moving on, in side profile, you’ll be quick to notice that the tank has come from the NS200 but the full fairing, while paying homage to the half-fairing of the 220, looks quite sporty and has a pretty huge air vent, too. Other highlights of the side profile include a semi-exposed red-painted trellis frame and a stubby sports exhaust. The tail piece is also new and has a very edgy design, while the split seats and the rear-seat foot-pegs should lead to a very sporty riding position.

Of course, it’s too early to hope for the official specifications. However, what’s a certainty is that the motor will come from the Dominar, albeit, in a new state of tune. Presently, this single-cylinder fuel-injected oil-cooled engine develops a maximum power of 40 PS and a peak torque of 35 Nm for the Bajaj Dominar 400. However, the same motor outputs 43.5 PS and 37 Nm on the KTM Duke 390. In all likelihood, the 400cc Bajaj Pulsar will get the motor in the same state of tune as as the Katoom. Of course, even the six-speed transmission with slipper clutch will be shared. What do you think of the Bajaj Pulsar concept seen above? Do you want it to make it to production?
