Hyundai Creta continues to impress one and all by breaking the 13,000 sales milestone in July 2021 mid-size SUV sales chart. Just when you thought Creta could not get more popular, it achieves this massive feat. The second SUV on the list sold almost half of this. The mid-size SUV segment is heating up at the moment with plenty of new 7-seat products entering the market. Alcazar has made its presence felt on the sales chart as well. The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 will shake up the segment too. Let us take a look at the individual sales figures for all the mid-size SUVs in our market for July 2021.

Mid-Size SUV Sales July 2021 – Hyundai Creta vs Kia Seltos + Tata Harrier + Safari + Others
Hyundai Creta – 13,000 Units
Hyundai Creta has managed to hit the magical number of 13,000 monthly sales which is impressive. Compared to July 2020 where it sold over 11,500 units, this marks a significant jump in sales. There have been spy images of how the next-gen Creta could look like and when will it launch.

Kia Seltos – 6,983 Units
Creta’s Korean sibling, Kia Seltos is barely managing to keep up with the popularity of Creta. However, in its own right, it has become extremely popular in India. In fact, Kia has become the fastest to reach a cumulative sales of 3,00,000 in India. In July 2021, Kia sold just under 7,000 units of Seltos compared to July 2020 where it sold over 8,200 units. This marks a decline in sales on a year-on-year basis.
Tata Harrier and Safari – 4,487 (2,666 + 1,821) Units
The combination of Tata Harrier and Safari has established its customer base and keeps selling heavy volumes month after month. The overall sales for July 2021 amount to 4,487 units.

MG Hector – 3,565 Units
The Hector family includes the 5, 6 and 7-seat variants and the cumulative sales are 3,565 units in July 2021. This is a massive increase in monthly sales compared to July 2020 of 2,023 units.
Hyundai Alcazar – 3,001 Units
The newest edition in the segment is the 7-seat SUV based on the Creta. The Alcazar arrived and started selling like hotcakes. In its first month of sale, it managed to dispatch over 3,000 units which is not an easy task. To get a completed picture, it will be interesting to see what it sells in the next full month.

Jeep Compass – 909 Units
The American carmaker continues to keep selling around 900 units month after month in our market. However, in the same month last year, it sold only 400 units.
Mahindra XUV500 – 891 Units
The aging XUV500 is still bringing in some sales for Mahindra. It will soon be replaced by the XUV700 which is scheduled for launch very soon. The XUV500 sold over 890 units in July 2021 compared to 813 units in July 2020.

Nissan Kicks – 135 Units
The not-so-popular Nissan Kicks keeps selling low volumes month after month. Last month, Nissan sold a mere 135 units of Kicks compared to a mere 88 units last year.
Renault Duster – 128 Units
One of the first mid-size SUVs in India has fallen victim to growing competition in the segment. It managed a disappointing 128 units in July 2021 compared to 339 in the same month last year.
