The car sales figures for July 2021 are out. The overall sentiment in the industry is overwhelmingly positive. The Indian automobile industry has sprung back to exponential growth figures. This is distinctly visible when compared to last year. Almost all the major carmakers have witnessed substantially high sales in July 2021. Let us take a look at what the individual automakers sold last month.

Car Sales Figures for July 2021
Maruti Suzuki – 1,33,273 Units
The largest carmaker in the country continues to stay miles ahead of its peers yet again. In July 2021, Maruti sold over 1.33 lakh cars in India compared to just under 98,000 cars in the same month last year. This shows around a 36% rise in sales.
Hyundai – 48,042 Units
The popular Korean carmaker dispatched over 48,000 units in July 2021 marking a growth rate of around 25% on a year-on-year basis. The 7-seat Alcazar has contributed to these figures significantly from the very first month of its launch which is a positive sign for Hyundai.

Tata Motors – 30,185 Units
The Indian carmaker has sold an impressive 30,185 units in July 2021. This is more than double the number of cars it sold in the same month last year. Tata is ensuring a diversified and fresh portfolio with launches like the Dark Editions of Harrier, Nexon, Nexon EV and Altroz along with Tiago NRG on Aug 4. Therefore, it is no surprise that it managed to achieve this feat.
Mahindra – 21,046 Units
The Indian SUV maker saw its sales almost doubling in a year from around 11,000 units in July 2020 to just over 21,000 units in July 2021. Mahindra has plans of launching a plethora of SUVs within the next couple of years including XUV700, XUV500, XUV900, XUV300 Sportz, Scorpio, 5-Door Thar to name a few.

Kia – 15,016 Units
The other popular Korean carmaker continues to challenge for the top spot with over 15,000 units sold in July 2021. The Sonet accounts for 7,675 units and the Seltos 6,983 units. These sales figures stood at around 8,500 units in the same month last year.
Toyota – 13,105 Units
The Japanese auto giant saw a massive jump in sales with just over 13,100 units sold in July 2021 in comparison to just around 5,300 units in July 2020. As usual, Glanza, Urban Cruiser, Innova Crysta and Fortuner are leading the charge for Toyota.

Honda – 6,055 Units
Honda also saw a rise in sales on a year-on-year basis. In July 2021, it sold just over 6,000 units and in July 2020, it managed to sell around 5,300 units. Amaze and City are the major sales drivers for Honda in India.
Nissan – 4,259 Units
Nissan has impressed the most with over 4,200 units sold in July 2021, thanks primarily to the Magnite. The affordable compact SUV has taken the brand to new heights in our market.

MG Motors – 4,225 Units
MG Motors has also seen some encouraging sales figures for its SUVs in July 2021 with over 4,200 units. Interestingly, ZS EV, the electric SUV from MG also saw over 400 units selling, which is impressive, to say the least.
Skoda – 3,080 Units
The talking point of sales figures for July 2021 is the Czech carmaker with a whopping 3,080 units being sold. It has managed to cross the 3000-unit mark after 9 years. Needless to say, the Kushaq is the reason for this success and from next month onwards we will be able to experience the full force of the mid-size SUV on the sales charts.
