The new 2021 Maruti Celerio has just leaked online courtesy of a couple of videos from what seems to be the shooting of the TVC for the new vehicle. The second generation of the company’s A2-segment offering will be seen launching in the coming weeks and from the looks of it, the designers of this hatchback seem to have taken some inspiration from none other than the Maruti Swift.

As can be seen in the spy media we have here, the Celerio units that have been spotted seem to be in their top-end trim. And in shades of red and blue, they do remind us of the Swift when viewed from certain angles. The spy images of the new 2021 Maruti Celerio have also revealed the rather curvaceous form factor of the new model. A thing to note here is that unlike the outgoing car, which has a tallboy format, the new version is lower and doesn’t have the boxy look. Most authorized dealerships have already started registering unofficial bookings of the car for a token amount of Rs 10,000. Of course, the official price list will be released on the day of launch.

New 2021 Maruti Celerio Specs
The new-gun Celerio will be underpinned by the lightweight HEARTECT platform shared with the likes of Swift and WagonR. The new model will be sold with two engine options – 1.0-litre petrol and 1.2-litre petrol. Both the motors will be shared with the WagonR and chances are that the smaller of the two power plants will be even launched in CNG configuration. On petrol, the 1.0-litre engine will deliver a maximum power of 67bhp and a peak torque of 90Nm. The larger engine will produce a maximum power of 82bhp and 113Nm. Both the motors will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Maruti is planning to introduce clutchless manual transmission in the coming times and the same could make its debut on the new Celerio. It must be noted here that the outgoing Celerio became the first car from the leading manufacturer to offer AMT and now, it looks like the new model will mark the debut of the clutchless manual transmission. The new Celerio is expected to offer bigger dimensions than the current model, which will ensure better legroom for occupants in both rows. The headroom, however, could be a tad lower as the new version doesn’t have a tallboy format.
Design
Visually, the new Maruti Celerio looks nothing like the current version as it has received a complete design overhaul. Upfront, there is an oval grille that features a chrome slate running across it. The stance of the A-pillars reminds us of the Swift but the nose has a rather cutesy look rather than the sporty-looking front-end of the Swift. The side-profile will again remind you of the Swift, especially due to the greenhouse and the design of the C-pillar. Also, even the new Celerio will have high-mounted door handles at the rear and a tapering roofline, which are two more factors that make the new model look like its popular elder sibling.
Even the interior will be a huge upgrade over what the current Celerio offers. The redesigned dashboard is sure to house the Smartplay Studio touchscreen infotainment unit while the speedo console will carry a digital multi-information display. Other features on offer should include keyless entry and go, electrically-adjustable ORVMs, audio buttons on the steering wheel, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and reverse parking sensors with a camera.
