Here is a digital rendition of what the Kia Seltos-rivalling SUV from Ford could look like. Now, it is a well-established fact that Ford was planning to bring in a mid-size SUV in our market to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Seltos. The SUV was almost ready in terms of the design as a part of the Joint Venture (JV) between Ford and Mahindra. Both these auto giants were to co-develop this SUV to challenge the dominance of the Koreans in the segment. However, at the advent of the pandemic, both these companies had to allocate funds for other projects leading to the cancellation of the JV. As a result, Mahindra has planned to launch the XUV500 as the Creta-rival later and Ford has turned to its global lineup of SUVs to underpin this SUV. Let us see what the SUV might look like.

Kia Seltos-Rivalling Ford SUV – Design
This mid-size Ford SUV is on sale in the Chinese market under the Territory moniker. The front hosts a large grille with sleek LED headlamps units with stylish DRLs and a chrome/LED strip running across the width of the front. The bumper is also sporty and features stylish-looking skid plates. The angular edges of the bumper house the fog lamps. The sides feature stylish alloy wheels, characteristic creases, roof rails and a floating roof with blacked-out A, B, C and D-Pillars. The rear has the modern element of connected taillamps via a light strip, roof-mounted spoiler, chunky bumpers with skid plates. The overall design of the Territory is different from EcoSport or Endeavour. This will fit in perfectly between these two SUVs from Ford in India.

Expected Interiors and Features
Ford is known for making rugged products with high build quality. We have no reason to believe that this SUV will be anything different. The interiors will be modern with features like a large digital touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, multi-purpose steering wheel, audio and voice controls, automatic climate control, connectivity features including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth and Connected Car Tech, Electric Sunroof and much more. Also, these features become necessary if you are planning to challenge the likes of Creta and Seltos.

Expected Specs
While there is no word on which powertrain options will be available with the mid-size SUV, we can assume a few things. On the diesel front, this SUV might feature a detuned version of the 2.0-litre unit of the Endeavour. The petrol engine might continue to be the one used in the EcoSport which is powerful enough to power this SUV too. The transmission options might include a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. To stay in the competition, the prices of the SUV have to be in the range of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 17 lakh, ex-showroom.
