VW Tiguan has a new facelifted Urban Sport variant in its Europe lineup. The facelifted model comes with a variety of changes, especially on the outside. The launch of India-bound 2021 Tiguan has been postponed due to the worsening pandemic situation in the country. We might see the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan sometime around the end of 2021 or early 2022. VW will launch its much-awaited Creta-rivalling mid-size SUV, Taigun in August in India. But before that, let us discuss what this new variant comes with.

VW Tiguan Facelift Urban Sport – Updates
The overall exteriors of the SUV remain the same which means that the design language is modern and understated, which is typically the case with all VW products. The changes include body-coloured bumpers with a continuous reflective strip, Chrome Exhaust Finishers to make it look a bit more sporty, a Larger Rear Spoiler, Various Stickers and Badges stating the Urban Sport variant. On the inside, the changes are rather subtle, with Anthracite Accents on the Leather Upholstery with Red Stitching and Model Specific Door Sill Plates. These are the changes that will distinguish the Urban Sport trim from the other variants on the inside and out.

The VW Tiguan slated for the Indian market is likely to come with a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine which is good for 190 hp and 320 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. This engine will be paired to a 7-speed DSG (DCT) gearbox and will send power to all four wheels via the 4-Motion four-wheel-drive system from VW. There will be no diesel engine on offer. The expected prices should be in the range of around Rs 28 lakh, ex-showroom. This makes the Tiguan a direct rival to products like Jeep Compass (high-trims), Hyundai Tucson, the recently unveiled Citroen C5 Aircross and the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq in our market. While VW has introduced this facelifted Urban Sport trim in Europe, we expect the India-bound Tiguan to launch soon in our market as well.
