The largest luxury carmaker in the country, Mercedes has come up with an extremely special and unique launch for the Indian market. The product in question is the luxury personified, Maybach GLS. The prime focus of the GLS is the uber-luxurious cabin and comfort features that are ingrained in the brand’s DNA. Mercedes has adopted a product offensive strategy in the Indian market for 2021 to stay at the top of the podium. It is receiving some serious competition from the fellow German, BMW, which has also a ton of launches planned for this year. But let us focus on the Maybach GLS for now and take a look, in detail, regarding the equipment and powertrains that it comes with.

Mercedes-Maybach GLS – Exterior Highlights
Well, talking of the exteriors, there really isn’t anything like it. Even the standard GLS could be termed subtle in front of the Maybach version. There is a colossal chrome vertical grille up front, a ton of chrome elements on the front bumper, chrome skid plate, sleek headlamps and a free-standing three-star logo on the bonnet. When you come to the sides, you are greeted by retractable side steps for easy ingress and egress, 22-inch massive stylish alloy wheels, chrome-equipped window line and roof rails. The rear houses the LED taillamps connected by a chrome strip running across the width of the SUV, roof-mounted spoiler, a thick chrome bar on top of the rear bumper and blingy chrome rear skid plates. It oozes luxury from every angle you look at it. One thing is for sure, the road presence of the Maybach GLS will surely make the heads turn.

Mercedes-Maybach GLS – Interiors and Features
It is not difficult to guess that the cabin experience of the Maybach GLS is simply exquisite and luxurious. There are features such as a twin 12.3-inch Digital Infotainment System and Driver’s Instrument Cluster which take the centre stage, Premium Nappa Leather Upholstery, High-Quality Fit and Finish of the Air Con Vents, Multi-Purpose Steering Wheels, Hey Mercedes Features with Voice Commands, Large Panoramic Sunroof, 4/5 Seat Layout Option, Multiple Screens to operate various aspects of the car from the rear seats, Powered Front and Rear Seats with Massage Function, Heated and Ventilated Seats, Four-Zone Automatic Climate Control, Burmester Premium 3D Surround Sound System, Adaptive Damping System with Air Suspension, E-Active Body Control and much more. Mercedes-Maybach GLS – Powertrains and Transmissions
The ultra-luxurious Maybach GLS SUV also comes with a massively powerful engine. This includes a 4.0-litre V8 Twin-Turbo Petrol Engine with a 48V mild-hybrid and integrated starter-alternator system making a mammoth 558 PS and 730 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. An additional temporary boost is provided by the hybrid system of 22 PS and 250 Nm. This massive engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels. With the transfer case, 0-100% of the toque could be split between the two axles. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS starts at Rs 2.43 Crore for the base version and the additional equipment could be had with a premium. It will go up against the likes of Bentley Bentayga and Range Rover.
