The Force Gurkha was a major source of attraction in the Auto Expo 2020 last year. It gained a ton of eyeballs because the concept/near-production-ready SUV did pose an aggressive appearance. The SUV looked extremely rugged for off-road applications. The trend of off-roading adventure in India has seen a tremendous rise and people are wanting more and more capable off-roading vehicles. Mahindra Thar is the perfect example of this with its unprecedented popularity. While there is currently no competition from any other product from any other carmaker at the moment, we might finally see a direct rival to the Thar in the form of Force Gurkha. The BS6 compliant model was due for launch last year but the pandemic pushed those plans back. Now, finally, we have seen some leaked images of the production-ready version of the Force Gurkha online. It appears like there has been a brochure leak. Let us see what these images tell us about the Force Gurkha.

From the images, it is clear that the production version of the Force Gurkha will resemble the overall appearance of the one showcased in the Auto Expo, which is only a good thing. The exterior of the Gurkha look rugged and tough, the overall SUV looks very upright and aggressive, there are a few modern bits as well with rounded headlamps with DLRs, tough bumper, practical front end with high approach angle, traditional turn indicators on the bonnet, Force logo at the centre of the front grille. The sides will feature large and chunky wheel arches and high-profile off-roading-oriented tyres. The overall appearance reeks of sturdy and tough looks which can take on any terrain.

2021 Force Gurkha- Expected Interiors
While the interior images have not been surfaced online yet, we expect a practical cabin with all the basic modern-day equipment. There might be a dual-tone theme inside the cabin which gives Gurkha some character and excitement. This updated model might see a number of features including a digital touchscreen in the centre console, a redesigned dashboard, a new instrument cluster and a 4-seat and 3-door setup. It will be interesting to see if Force comes up with a 5-door arrangement for the Gurkha, following the success of the Mahindra Thar, which was launched recently.

2021 Force Gurkha- Expected Engines, Transmissions and Prices
The 2021 Gurkha will likely be offered with a BS6 compliant 2.6-litre diesel engine making 90 hp. This engine will most likely be mated with a 5-speed manual transmission. We might also see the more powerful 2.2-litre engine, like in the outgoing model, which is good for 140 hp and 321 Nm. There might be options of 2WD or 4WD drive systems. Of course, there will be 4×4 equipment like the differential-lock, suitable suspension system, high approach, departure and break-over angles and drive modes to make sure you never lose traction or bottom out. The expected prices of the 2021 Force Gurkha might be in the region of Rs 9 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, ex-showroom to undercut the Mahindra Thar. The launch is expected to be soon and will rival the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
