The Hyundai Verna has always been a modern and bold-looking sedan and the latest generation version is no different. On the outside, the Verna continues to be bold and modern with Projector LED headlamps, Cornering Lamps, Large Front Dark Chrome Radiator Grille, Projector Fog Lamps, LED DRLs and sporty bumper. The Honda City has a clear edge over the Hyundai Verna in terms of exterior dimensions. The Honda is over 100 mm longer than the Verna and a bit wider as well. However, the wheelbase of both these executive sedans is identical which means that the cabin space for the rear passengers is somewhat similar. The City has a bit larger boot than the Verna but the difference is not too much.

The Hyundai Verna comes with a whole host of engine-gearbox combination options including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 115 PS and 144 Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel engine making 115 PS and 250 Nm and a powerful 1.0-litre direct-injection turbo petrol making 120 PS and 171 Nm. The naturally aspirated petrol engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or CVT, the 1.5-litre diesel comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic and the 1.0-litre turbo petrol comes with a sole 7-speed DCT transmission. The prices of the Hyundai Verna start at Rs 9.19 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 15.25 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Honda City comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine making 121 PS of peak power and 145 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. The other powertrain includes a 1.5-litre diesel engine making 100 PS of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The fifth-generation Honda City starts at Rs 10.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 14.94 lakh, ex-showroom.

Hyundai Verna vs Honda City- Verdict
Which one to choose between these two massively popular and extremely capable executive sedans is a million-dollar question. We can suggest that if you are an enthusiastic driver and want an exquisite petrol engine, you can opt for the Honda City. It comes with a decent amount of features and the overall larger dimensions offer a bit better cabin and practical experience. However, if you want a feature-rich cabin, a turbo petrol or a diesel automatic option, you can most certainly opt for the Verna. But make no mistake about it, one can’t possibly go wrong with either of these two products.
