The updated Toyota Fortuner has been made more desirable with some new features and appearance changes keeping it in line with the modern design language. The Gloster is a large and elegant-looking SUV from MG. It is an SUV with large proportions and a sophisticated design on the outside. The front of the Gloster is dominated by a large and wide chrome front grille and sleek LED headlamps giving it a simple yet elegant appearance. The skid plates and the LED fog lamp housing only accentuate the overall looks further. On the sides, the 19-inch Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels, Roof Rails, Chrome Belt around the Windows, Floating Roof and side steps for easier ingress and egress makes it very clear that the car is meant to be luxurious. The rear is also as beautiful as the front with LED tail lamps, Gloster Emblem stamped across the boot lid, Twin Chrome Exhaust and much more. When it comes to the exterior dimensions, the MG Gloster takes the cake with larger overall dimensions. This also translates to the superior wheelbase, which, in turn, frees up a lot more space for the second and third-row passengers. The features list has been massively updated with the new Fortuner which was much needed. Toyota Fortuner vs MG Gloster – Engines and Prices
The new Fortuner does include a change under the bonnet as well. The 2.7-litre petrol engine will continue, which makes 166hp and 245Nm. It comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. While this engine remains unchanged, the 2.8-litre diesel engine makes more power than before. It makes 204hp in comparison to 177hp previously. In the manual version, this engine produces 420Nm of torque, but with the automatic, it will produce a mammoth 500Nm. The prices of the Toyota Fortuner range between Rs 30.34 lakh to Rs 38.30 lakh, ex-showroom.

The MG Gloster comes with two powertrain options; 2.0-litre turbo diesel and a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel. The 4×4 system comes with the latter and the two engines make 163 PS and 375 Nm and 218 PS and 480 Nm respectively. Both these engines come mated to an 8-speed Automatic Transmission. The prices of the MG Gloster range between Rs 29.98 lakh and Rs 36.88 lakh, ex-showroom.

Toyota Fortuner vs MG Gloster – Verdict
As is clear from the comparisons above, there is no lack of anything in either of these two large SUVs. It just comes down to your requirements and what suits you better. while these are similarly prices SUVs in similar segments, the characteristics and the DNA that each of these carries can’t be more different. Therefore, if you are someone who is looking for a luxurious experience and want all the comforts and conveniences from your SUV and that is your priority, you might go for the MG Gloster. It is just a more spacious vehicle with a ton of convenience features. However, if you are someone who seeks adventure a lot and want a vehicle that can take you anywhere, then the Toyota Fortuner is certainly the more capable SUV in that regard.
