Hyundai has been meaning to bring its N Division to India for quite some time now. The hardcore N Division consists of performance cars from the Korean carmaker and is internationally extremely active in this segment. The list of some of the best hot hatches in the world includes the name a certain i20 N and Veloster from Hyundai. However, for India, Hyundai will first try to introduce a regular N Line brand which means that the i20 will see a relatively minor tweak in power and torque outputs. This is, sort of, a mid-way between the regular i20 and the full-blown performance i20 N which boasts of power in the region of above 200 hp. Hyundai wants to try out the hot hatch in the country to gauge the response of the Indian consumers and depending on the response, it will decide whether to go all-out with such products or import them as CBU in smaller quantities. The i20 N Line has been spotted testing on our roads multiple times now and we predict that the launch might happen soon, obviously, if the situation gets a bit better. Until the launch, however, let us see what to expect from the Hyundai i20 N Line.

Hyundai i20 N Line – Exteriors
While the i20 N will be based on the current-generation i20 in terms of the overall design, there will be noticeable differences to distinguish it from the regular i20. For example, there will be twin exhausts to distinguish it from the regular i20 from the rear, a new set of low-profile alloys, there might be a different paint scheme and various N-Line badges around the body. On the inside, there might be sporty red accents on the dashboard and seats to let you know that you are seated in something performance-oriented. The overall setup on the inside, however, will be built upon the regular i20 itself.

Hyundai i20 N Line – Expected Interiors
Similar to the exteriors, the interiors will also be based on the regular i20 which is currently on sale in our market. This means that there will be all the modern features and conveniences including Digital Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth Connectivity, Connected Car Tech, Digital Instrument Cluster, Automatic Climate Control, Multi-Purpose Steering Wheel with Controls and much more. To differentiate the N Line version from the regular i20, there might be a few sporty red inserts at various places along the interiors like the seat belt, upholstery and dashboard.

Hyundai i20 N Line – Engines, Transmissions, Expected Prices and Rivals
The Hyundai i20 might come with an updated 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine in a higher state of tune, where it will make 120PS and 172Nm mated to a sporty 7-speed DCT unit for responsive gearshifts. There will be a few mechanical changes to this N Line version like stiffer suspension setup and tweaked steering controls. The more powerful 200 hp i20 N might then be brought through the CBU route later on. The prices of the Hyundai i20 N Line are expected to be around Rs 12 lakh, ex-showroom, which are, incidentally, not too far off than the regular i20. It might turn out to be quite a bargain if Hyundai actually manages to price the i20 N Line around that prices point. After the implementation of the BS6 norms in India, the performance hatchbacks have been discontinued and there are no direct rivals to the i20 N Line, which might give it the first mover’s advantage.
