Mercedes-Benz has been delivering on its promise of launching a slew of new and updated products in India in 2021. Being the largest luxury car manufacturer in the country, Mercedes-Benz wants to hold on to the pole position in the future as well. The Indian automobile market has been showing signs of recovery from the pandemic and Mercedes wants to capitalize on this opportunity. Now, that the customers are ready to buy new cars again, Mercedes has decided to offer its wide range of products this year itself. Some of these products will be launched this year, following the delay from last year. All-in-all, Mercedes-Benz has made it extremely competitive for the rivals in the luxury car segment in India. At the heart of that, is the E-Class, which has always been one of the most popular luxury cars in India. Mercedes have updated and launched it today. So, let us take a look at what has changed.

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class – Exterior changes
Finally, Mercedes has broken the ages-old trend of an E-Class coming with a split headlight set up with the new E-Class. This time around, to make it look distinctive, the E-Class has a single LED high-performance headlamp unit along with a single LED DRLs strip on top of the headlamps. The front grilles are different, depending on the variant. But both the variants feature a (dual) chrome bar setup with a chunky star logo in the centre and a sculpted bonnet giving the front a broad appearance. Also, accentuating the front end are the large, broad and sporty bumpers. The sides are also updated with functional quarter-glass, chrome-finished side skirts and 5-spoke alloys. The rear features the trademark LED tail lamps which are split and joined together by a chrome strip.

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class – Interior, Safety and Features
Being the luxury car, the interiors feel nothing short of premium in terms of quality, technology and convenience. The list of features is extensive including a dual 12.3-inch Digital Infotainment Display and a Digital Driver’s Instrument Cluster with Mercedes’s own Mmc connected app with a ton of functions, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Ambient Lighting, Voice Commands with “Hey Mercedes”, Panoramic Sunroof, THERMOTRONIC AC with charcoal filter, Navigation, Alexa Support, Geo-fencing, Wireless Charging, Touchpad operation with gesture controls, Long Wheelbase, Remote Windows and Sunblind Operation, Reclining Rear seats with Electric Control, 13-speaker Burmester Premium Surround Sound System and much more.

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class – Engines and Prices
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class comes in three engine options, including two diesel and one turbo petrol unit. The E 200 turbo petrol unit is a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder engine producing 197 hp and 320 Nm. The E 220d is a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder diesel that makes 194 hp and 400 Nm and the E 350d is one for the enthusiasts. It is a 3.0-litre inline 6 cylinder engine producing 287 hp and a colossal 600 Nm and sprints from 0-100 kmph in just 6.1 secs. All these engines are mated to a 9-step Automatic gearbox for smooth and responsive gearshifts.

The price of the E 200 range between Rs 63.60 lakh and Rs 67.20 lakh, E 220d are between Rs 64.80 lakh and Rs 68.30 lakh and E350d is Rs 80.90 lakh, ex-showroom. Mercedes calls these prices competitive and we will see the reaction of the customers once the deliveries begin.
