Mahindra – Sales Report
January has been a very crucial month for the Indian automobile industry in general. The industry has recorded strong sales growth signifying the triumph over the recession caused by the pandemic last year. The industry is well on its way to a complete recovery with sales being higher than even the pre-covid era. Mahindra’s car sales grew by 4.8% in January 2021 on a YoY basis. Last year January saw Mahindra sell 19,555 units, whereas this number grew to 20,498 units this year. But what’s more impressive is the growth on an MoM basis. In December 2020, Mahindra sold 16,050 units and in January 2021, it managed to sell 20,498 units. This marks an impressive 27% growth, which can largely be attributed to the success that Thar has enjoyed. Ever since its launch, it has been very popular with the buyers especially because this time around, Mahindra has made sure that this is not just a hardcore off-roading machine for enthusiasts, but also a lifestyle offering for the urban population. They can use it for the day-to-day activities as well and if they plan a proper off-roading trip on the weekend, they won’t have to think twice.

Mahindra Thar recalled
Mahindra has recalled 1,577 units of some of the diesel-powered Thars because of faulty camshafts. If you want to know whether your Thar was a part of the group that had this manufacturing issue, you must check the manufacturing date. If your Thar was manufactured between September 7 and December 25, 2020, then you are eligible to get the camshaft repaired free of cost. This is because Mahindra has announced that this has happened because of a machine-setting error at one of its manufacturing plants. Mahindra will make sure to intimate all the customers who fall under this category so that they can get their Thars ready for the dirt roads again.
