We have reported earlier that the new player in the Indian game is the French automaker, Citroen. It has decided to enter our market with its first mid-size luxury SUV offering in the form of C5 Aircross. Citroen has maintained stated that this model is not volume-oriented, rather for establishing the brand values and DNA in India. That is why the prime focus of Citroen with this product is to offer convenience, comfort, unique design and a ton of modern features. It wants to woo the Indian customers with a unique design language with gives the C5 Aircross a distinct road presence. That is something that Indian customers get attracted to. They want their cars to be large and unique looking. That is what Citroen has targeted. The good news is that the first C5 Aircross has rolled off the production line from the Birla facility in Tamil Nadu. Here is what we know so far about the C5 Aircross.

Citroen C5 Aircross – Exterior, Interior and Features
The luxury mid-size SUV has numerous new features and technology to ensure that the product convinces the value for money-conscious customers in India to go for C5 Aircross. While there is no question, that the French automaker is known globally, for its unique design language, with a square theme overall, the interiors of Citroen products are just as exciting and modern. The sleek parallel chrome lines on the front grille, along with the LED DRLs on the bonnet do look modern. The LED headlamp unit just below the DRLs and squared-off air dams on the front bumper sure lets you know that it is a typical Citroen. The sides and the rear reflect the same square design theme with side skirtings and LED tail lamp design having some sort of squares in them.
What is more exciting is that the square-themed design continues to the inside as well. The air-con vents, dashboard layout and the digital instrument cluster follow the square pattern. The build quality and the materials used inside will be premium and convenience features will be plenty. This includes a 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Cluster, 8-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System, Panoramic Sunroof, Park Assist with Auto Steer, Plusher rider with unique Suspension Setup and Smooth gear shifts because of drive-by-wire technology. Overall, the features list will be long also will not just be restricted to the aesthetics, but also extend to the mechanicals of the powertrain.

Citroen C5 Aircross – Engines, Prices and Rivals
The Citroen C5 Aircross will come with a sole 2.0-litre diesel engine making 180hp. It will come mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic with shift-by-wire technology to offer smooth gearshifts. Interestingly, this will be the only product with a diesel option. All the upcoming products from Citroen in India will sport a turbo-petrol powertrain only.Iif you are looking for a diesel car from the French manufacturer, the C5 Aircross might well be your only chance. The prices will be revealed by March, but we expect a price tag of around Rs 30 lakh, ex-showroom. The rivals of the C5 Aircross come from various segments, being a mid-size SUV. Starting from Tata Harrier, MG Hector but more importantly, Jeep Compass, Tata Safari, Hyundai Tuscon and Skoda Kodiaq will post a challenge to the new kid on the block.
