Aston Martin DBX – Exterior
Aston Martin calls the DBX ”elegant, purposeful and unique” and that’s precisely what it is. The typical distinctive DB front grille pays homage to the DB2 prototype in 1949. The flowing creases on the bonnet give the DBX a sporty look and enhance the aerodynamics. The daytime running LED DRLs encapsulate the air vents, which help in aerodynamic characteristics and provides cooling to the braking assembly of the car. From the side, one can tell that this is a car of long wheelbase (3060mm to be precise). Coming to the rear, the connected tail lamps in a ducktail type look keep the rear-end busy, sporty and modern. There are a roof-mounted spoiler and twin exhaust tips on the rear bumper.

Aston Martin DBX – Engine and Transmission
The Aston Martin DBX comes with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which is sourced from the AMG department of Mercedes, making 550hp and 700Nm. This is the sole engine on offer and comes with a 9-speed Torque Converter transmission which takes it from 0-100 kmph in a mere 4.5 secs. The technology to talk about here is the cylinder deactivation technology which shuts off one engine bank to improve fuel economy and reduces power losses related to pumping and piston. A rear-wheel biased all-wheel-drive system is also available which can send 100% power to the rear wheels under normal circumstances to give it a sporty driving experience.
Aston Martin DBX – Price and Competition
As is clear from the title, the Aston Martin DBX costs a whopping Rs 3.82 Crore, ex-showroom and this is without the added accessories. Although it is a grand SUV from an iconic brand, it does have a lot of competition. The German rivals include the Porsche Cayenne and Audi QS R8 which are already a benchmark in the world of performance SUVs. Then there is arguably the best performance SUV in the world, in Lamborghini Urus. In terms of comfort and luxury, there are a few better options in the world than Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Therefore, it is fair to say that the DBX has its work cut out and only 11 units are allotted for India.
