One of the most awaited cars of this year will surely be the Tata Hornbill or the Tata HBX small SUV. It is a car for the masses. There is a lot of attention from the customers for this particular vehicle. The reason being, its looks and big body styling. The fun part is that this is a micro-SUV. That means this will sit even below the Nexon. That suggests that it will be extremely affordable for most of the buyers. If Tata could equip it with a ton of features, we really will have an exciting competition on our hands. Tata Hornbill / HBX – Exterior
Tata Hornbill has been spied testing multiple times now. The exterior of the Hornbill will almost be identical to the one featured in the Auto Expo 2020. The Vice President, Global Design for Tata Motors, Pratap Bose announced that the production version of the car showcased in the Auto Expo will be 95% similar. The front has this bold large grille with skid plates and LED DRLs in the bonnet. Like the Harrier, the headlamp unit will be placed down below on the bumper. The rear tail lamps will carry forwards the tri-arrow theme. All-in-all, this little SUV is anything but little. It looks very muscular with large wheel arches.
Tata Hornbill / HBX – Interior
Like with all the modern Tata products, the interior of Hornbill will be feature-loaded. The fit and finish, in addition to the quality of interiors, will also be good. All the newer Tata products have shown that the interior will have the quality, that will last a lifetime. The interior of the Hornbill will be busy with a floating Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Steering Mounted Controls, fancy looking textures for the dashboard, among other things. This micro-SUV will not be micro in terms of interior and features.

Tata Hornbill/ HBX – Engine and Transmission
The Hornbill is likely to come with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, making 84hp and 114Nm. It might also offer the more powerful 1.2-litre turbo petrol. We will know for sure, once Hornbill is launched. The transmission duty will be carried by either a 5-speed manual or an AMT.

Tata Hornbill/ HBX – Price and Rivals
Tata Hornbill, being a micro SUV, will be priced around Rs 4 lakh to Rs 7 lakh, ex-showroom. This will be a competitive price range. The rivals of the Hornbill will be Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Ignis, Renault Kwid and Mahindra KUV. The selling point of this vehicle will be its practicality and what it offers for the money. The majority of the buyers could be from a semi-urban and rural background and will demand a ton of practicality from the car. It does check all the right boxes.
