One of the country’s most popular SUVs, the Toyota Fortuner is receiving a much due facelift. Toyota has announced that the facelifted 2021 Toyota Fortuner will be launched on January 6, 2021. There are plenty of bits to talk about in the update, on the inside as well as outside. Also, there has been an update of the infotainment system. Let’s take a look at all the updates in detail. But before that make sure to check out all the new launches planned for 2021!
2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift – Exterior
Although the outgoing model was already a handsome-looking SUV, there have still been some cosmetic changes to make it look even more modern and sporty. This includes a new redesigned front grille and front bumper. Along with that, the LED Headlamp unit is also fresh. The tail lamps have gotten even slimmer, continuing the design as the outgoing model. There are a new set of 18-inch alloys which look nice. The overall impression continues to be that of butch and sporty SUV, which the Fortuner has always been.
2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift – Interior
Toyota Fortuner’s interior has always been relatively modest as compared to its fierce rival, the Ford Endeavour. They have tried to change it this time around with a few changes on the inside of the new Fortuner. There is a new 8-inch Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System on offer. It comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is news of changes to the Digital Instrument Cluster as well. Apart from that, new features include powered front seats, wireless charging and ambient lighting to enhance the convenience quotient of the car.

To manoeuvre this huge monster around, there is an introduction of a 360-degree camera. This is especially necessary to park the big SUV in the city as well as around tight spaces. To be honest, all these features should have already been in a car of this price and segment. But better late than never!

2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift – Engine and Transmission
Although the changes to the exterior and interior of the facelifted Fortuner have been quite substantial, the changes to the powertrain option are none. The Fortuner retains the same 2.7-litre petrol engine making 164 hp and 245Nm. The powerful 2.8-litre diesel engine makes a rather decent 175hp and 450Nm. Both the engines can be paired with either a manual or an automatic gearbox. The prices of the facelifted Toyota Fortuner will be a bit higher than the model that is currently on sale. The current model costs between Rs 28.66 lakh and Rs 34.43 lakh, ex-showroom.

2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift – Competition
Traditionally, the Toyota Fortuner has only one main rival in India, the Ford Endeavour. Although Mahindra tried to challenge these two SUVs with its Alturas G4, it was not very successful. Therefore, going forward, this will continue to be the case. Ford Endeavour costs between Rs 29.99 lakh and Rs 35.10 lakh, ex-showroom. Whether this update will be enough to give a tough fight to the Endeavour, remains to be seen!
