Check out this acceleration video between the 2020 Hyundai i20 Turbo and Volkswagen Polo TSI, to see which hatch is faster!
2020 Hyundai i20 was launched a couple of weeks back and the deliveries have also started successfully. As per the official sales report, petrol and diesel have an equal demand, but even the turbo variants have a good demand. With its turbo engine, i20 becomes the most powerful hatchback overtaking Volkswagen Polo.
Here is an acceleration comparison video between the 2020 Hyundai i20 Turbo-Petrol DCT and Volkswagen Polo TSI Manual. DCT is said to be faster and more performance focused, so it will be fun to know how well does it go against Polo Manual. Interestingly, even Polo gets an automatic gearbox, but not the DSG.

First up is the Volkswagen Polo TSI Manual, which completes the 0-100 km/hr acceleration in 9.25 seconds. In the second attempt, it takes 9.73 seconds for the same and in the third round, it does the same in 9.39 seconds. These figures are very similar to what Volkswagen claims which made it faster than a lot of other cars.
Hyundai i20 does the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 11 seconds in the first attempt. In the second attempt, the hatch takes about 10.80 seconds for the sprint and in the third round, the 0-100 sprint is achieved in 10.93 seconds. In comparison to Polo, it takes about 1 and a half second more for the sprint. However, the big difference here is DCT and manual gearbox.
One of the reasons here could be better low-end grunt or strong mid-range that Polo offers. Hyundai i20 produces 120 BHP and 175 Nm of peak torque with its 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo motor. Polo, with the same engine capacity, produces 110 BHP and 175 Nm. Moreover, the i20 is not offered with a manual gearbox, as it gets a 6-speed iMT.
