Check out this video where a Tata Nexon goes for sand dune bashing along with off-roaders like Toyota Fortuner, Maruti Gypsy and Thar!
Imagine taking a Tata Nexon out for off-roading that too on sand dunes. Already, the SUV is very compact and is just a FWD. You can put some mild off-roading at it, but dune bashing it a hardcore obstacle and requires specially made cars. However, this Nexon proved that wrong as it easily does dune bashing.
In this video, you can see the Tata Nexon trying to take on a small sand upslope and then a steep downhill run. It lines up from a long distance and revs hard, while staying on the second gear. Very easily, it manages to climb up the slope and did not get stuck even once. During the downslope, the owner let go the accelerator and just applied the brakes, as the car went down slowly.

The high ground clearance and considerably chunky tyres of Tata Nexon have helped it in clearing this difficulty. For other cars in the group it is an easy task, because all of them are hardcore machines that come with 4X4 drivetrain. Nexon gets FWD and does not even get basic off-roading bits like hill descent/ascent control or traction control.
On the other hand, you can see a Mercedes ML350 CDI stuck while dune bashing. Looks it also climbed up the slope but got stuck while trying to come on a plain surface. Despite it being an AWD and loaded with traction control and such features, it easily lost its grip and is now struggling hard.
At the back, we can also see some modified previous-generation Mahindra Thar. One of them came to the rescue of Mercedes SUV but failed. Following which, the second one came which managed to free the ML350 out of the dune. Prices of Tata Nexon commence at Rs 6.99 Lakhs up to Rs 12.70 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).
